where to stay in oahu Alohilani resort waikiki infinity pool cabana

ALOHA FROM OAHU! It’s not out first time on this island, but we’re so thrilled to be back and excited to take you around! On this trip, we stayed at the beautiful Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach. We wanted a relaxing retreat, but still close to all the action, so this place was perfect! It was ranked #8 By Conde Nast Traveler Readers In 2021 and it’s truly deserves the accolade. The resort is steps away from Waikiki beach. Its chic rooms offer beautiful ocean views. The pool deck has vibes for days. They have activities like hula dancing lessons and lei making. Their lobby has an giant fish tank! Keep reading to find out more and why we loved staying at ‘Alohilani.

SWELL Pool

The SWELL pool is the place to be while staying at this resort. It’s a vibe. The mornings are calm and serene, perfect for relaxing or catching some rays. I loved coming here for morning dips, listening to the sound of the waves and birds chirping while enjoying the views of the ocean from the infinity pool.

For those who prefer more of a party, drop by in the afternoon or evenings. There’s often DJs and local entertainers. At night, as part of the Video Art Series, beautiful landscapes of Oahu are projected onto the side of one of the buildings. Tasty drinks paired with live music makes this an evening hotspot.

At any time of the day, you can order poolside cocktails, frozen libations, signature appetizers, local favorites, and more from the Swell Rooftop menu

Private Cabana

We spent a full day relaxing at a private cabana, sipping on poolside cocktails and catching some sun. You can reserve a private cabana for the afternoon, evening, or the full day. There are five private cabanas to choose from. Each comes with water loungers, towel service, spacious seating, a TV, and view of the ocean.

Dining

Food is definitely my love language, and I felt heard at ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki! The hotel has a number of restaurants and dining options so you’re really spoilt for choice. There are TWO restaurants by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, Morimoto Asia and Momosan. For a more casual fare, drop by Piccola Onda, an Italian eatery. O Bar, located in the lobby, serves local grown coffee during the morning and craft cocktails in the evenings. SWELL Restaurant and Pool Bar serves an all-day menu highlighting local favorites like poke, fish tacos, healthy bowls, and more. For dessert, look no further than Double Fat Ice Cream which serves locally spun small batch ice cream.

Longboard Breakfast

We got the Longboard Club access with our room reservation and it’s very worth it if you like the option of breakfast and happy hour at your hotel. You can upgrade any room with the club access, and gives access to the private lounge with a private deck, as well as all the culinary offerings. The Longboard Club serves a buffet-style breakfast in the morning, and it was honestly SO good. The menu rotates daily and includes fresh items like their signature açai bowl, chia seed pudding, and fresh local fruit, as well as breakfast items like french toast, eggs, and pastries. The private club area has both indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy the all-you-can-eat breakfast.

Morimoto Asia

We dined at Morimoto Asia. This was my first time at a Morimoto restaurant and I was impressed! The menu integrates traditional Asian and Western ingredients and all the dishes I tasted were delicious. Of course, I HAD to order his signature sticky ribs, and the ishiyaki buri bop. I highly recommend outdoor seating to get front row seats to the beautiful sunset. Oh, and don’t forget to order drinks and dessert!

Longboard Happy Hour

In the evening, the Longboard Club serves international cheese and charcuterie selections paired with UNLIMITED Napa Valley wines and custom craft beer variety on tap. Another reason the Longboard Club is worth it!

Rooms

We stayed in a Premier Ocean Front room and the ocean views were swoon worthy! It’s magical waking up to the beautiful pink and purple hues of sunrise, listening to the ocean waves crashing, and watching surfers catching a wave. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the rooms were roomy.

We absolutely loved our stay at ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach and can’t wait to come back to this beautiful island! If you’re looking for more travel inspiration, check our my other blog posts for Maui, and Four Seasons Maui:
